Action Alert

UPDATE

After thoughtful deliberations and with regret, the American Association for Dental Research (AADR) and the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) have made the difficult, but necessary decision to cancel the 2020 AADR, ADEA, and Friends of NIDCR Capitol Hill Day, scheduled for March 17, 2020 in Washington, D.C. due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

AADR and ADEA have been closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control website as well as the actions of academic dental institutions surrounding COVID-19 response. Based on the numerous travel restrictions implemented by federal agencies, state governments, and universities it became clear that canceling was the right course of action.

The work of dental research and education goes on and so does the need to inform policymakers in Congress of that work’s importance. Therefore, we hope you will join us virtually on March 17 to champion our policy priorities. Details are forthcoming.

Please contact Tim Leeth with questions or concerns at LeethT@adea.org.

Attention, dental and craniofacial researchers, oral health advocates, dental educators, students, residents and fellows:

Join the American Association for Dental Research (AADR), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) and the Friends of National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (FNIDCR) on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, for the 2020 AADR, ADEA and FNIDCR Capitol Hill Day.

Come to the nation’s capital to connect with Members of Congress about issues vital to you and your profession, including increased federal funding for the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR), Title VII oral health training programs and much more. Taking place just before Congress considers fiscal year 2021 appropriations, the 2020 AADR, ADEA and FNIDCR Capitol Hill Day is the opportune time to provide information to elected officials on programs that could affect you, your institution and your field.

Share your personal stories and spotlight the promise and economic impact of programs, including those at NIDCR, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Oral Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration. The day will include a morning briefing and training session with the afternoon dedicated to small group meetings with Members of Congress and their staff.

AADR, ADEA and FNIDCR are excited to join forces on this event.

Mark your calendars and we’ll see you in March!
